Father in 'misery' after op.

Byline: By MIRROR REPORTER

A MAN who had a vasectomy vasectomy, male sterilization by surgical excision of the vas deferens, the thin duct that carries sperm cells from the testicles to the prostate and the penis.  in 1989 is living in "misery", a court was told yesterday.

John Winston, 47, claims there was no warning he might contract post-vasectomy pain syndrome (PVPS PVPS Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome ).

Five years after the vasectomy in Dublin, Mr Winston had a further procedure in the US to remove his left testicle testicle /tes·ti·cle/ (tes´ti-k'l) testis.

tes·ti·cle
n.
A testis, especially one contained within the scrotum.

However, the father of seven still continues to have pain in his remaining testes.

While he accepted there was no guarantee the operation would be 100 per cent successful, he claims he should have been warned it carried a risk of chronic and persistent pain.

Mr Winston, of Ratoath Avenue, Finglas West, Dublin, is suing Dr Niall O'Leary over the vasectomy carried out in his surgery.

Mr Justice McMenamin made a number of directions including an amended statement of claim be served on Dr O'Leary and adjourned the action to next Tuesday.
