THE death of a young father who suffered fatal head injuries when he fell from a ladder was a "tragic accident"

an inquest has heard.

Graham Clark Graham Clark was a fictional character in ITV's Emmerdale. He was played by Kevin Pallister.

Graham was in Emmerdale from 1998-2000. He is known in the village for killing Rachel Hughes.

Mr Clark's girlfriend, Katie McGovern, 18, was pregnant with the couple's second child at the time and has since given birth to a daughter called Rihanna.

They already had a son, Mason, who was seven months old at the time of Mr Clark's death, and the couple had just become engaged.

An inquest into his death at Newcastle Civic Centre Newcastle Civic Centre is a civic centre located in the Haymarket area of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is the main administrative and ceremonial centre for Newcastle City Council.  was told yesterday that on May 30 Mr Clark was working at an address in South Shields with his grandfather Thomas Clark, 73, and his 46-year-old uncle, also called Thomas Clark, when his ladder slipped from under him.

He fell from around 4.6m (15ft) and suffered fatal head injuries.

He was treated at Newcastle General Hospital on a life support machine after suffering a fractured skull, swelling of the brain and lung injuries.

The machine was switched off on June 4 when Mr Graham failed to respond to treatment.

Mr Clark's uncle told the inquest: "He was very experienced, he had been cleaning windows for several months and knew what he was doing. We were cleaning windows together that day but I didn't see him fall. I just heard a man in one of the houses shout and I came running.

"I saw him lying on the floor with blood pouring out of his head, his breathing was very rasping and it looked like he was struggling for air.

"The weather was fine, it hadn't been raining, there was no reason for the ladder to have slipped."

Coroner David Mitford said: "It is quite clear to me that this was a unfortunate and tragic accident.

"He was doing what he had done on many occasions but on this occasion his ladder slipped.

"It seems to me he was extremely unlucky. He suffered an injury which was not survivable sur·viv·a·ble

After the verdict his mother Elaine Clark, 45, of Dryden Close, South Shields, said: "Katie had Rihanna in September but she will never get to meet her father, it's just a tragedy."

Verdict: accident.
