Father, 33, and daughter, 3, killed in waterfall plunge; Bodies found after search of river.

INVESTIGATIONS will take place today into the death of a three-year-old girl and a man who fell 50 feet from a waterfall into a river.

Witnesses told police the pair, thought to be a 33-yearold father and his daughter, had entered the waterfall, in Llanbedr, near Harlech, North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England. , and then fell into a pool of water below.

Following a frantic twohour river search, their bodies were found at around 6pm last night.

Police said the victims - believed to be from the Manchester area - had been staying at a campsite nearby.

Police and Fire and Rescue Service will begin a full investigation into the incident later today, a spokeswoman added.

At this stage, it is understood to have been a tragic accident, although the authorities have refused to speculate.

The pair were on holiday and staying at a nearby campsite.

Fire service search teams were joined by the police helicopter and ambulance crews and assisted by two trained divers, who happened to be in the area at the time.

A fire service spokeswoman said: "At 16.09, police received a call reporting that a man and a child had gone into the waterfall at Llanbedr and fallen 50 foot into a pool below. The North Wales Police North Wales Police (Welsh: Heddlu Gogledd Cymru) is the Home Office police force responsible for policing North Wales. The headquarters are in Colwyn Bay, with divisional headquarters in St Asaph, Caernarfon and Wrexham.  helicopter, Fire and Rescue Service and Ambulance Service commenced a search of the area, with the help of two trained divers who were in the area at the time.

"At 17.56, two bodies were recovered from the river - a 33-year-old man and a threeyear-old girl, who are believed to have been staying at a local campsite."

Elsewhere in the region, several search and rescue missions were mounted for the participants of a race up Mount Snowdon yesterday.

The police, along with RAF Valley RAF Valley (IATA: N/A, ICAO: EGOV) is a Royal Air Force station on the island of Anglesey, Wales. It provides advanced pilot training using the BAE Hawks for pilots.

 and the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team were involved in the rescue of four casualties, one of whom later died.

No details were released about the victim.

Inspector Ian Maxwell said: "We urge members of the public who walk on mountains to take extra care and make sure they are properly equipped.

"They should ensure that somebody knows where they are planning to walk and that they have the experience and capability to deal with the locations they have ch osen."

Last month, six people were flown to hospital by helicopter after getting into difficulties on Snowdon during a race which took place in heavy wind and rain.At this stage, it looks like a tragic accident
