"One challenge in implementing VoIP networks is that most VoIP gateway products are somewhat limited in terms of supporting traditional telephony signaling protocols," said Eric Chan, Chief Technical Officer for NorthVoice. "VoIP networks will continue to have to interface with the PSTN. FastComm's SignalPath(TM) 230 supports a broad range of traditional telephony signaling protocols, both domestic and international, and can assist NorthVoice in deploying our global network in locations where those protocols are not supported by the VoIP network directly," added Chan.

The signaling dilemma is intensified for international locations. For example, ITU-T See ITU.

C7, the international standard for out-of-band signaling for telephony networks, is not compatible with SS7 signaling used in North America. Additionally, many countries have created their own variants of the ITU-T C7 specification. For international service providers such as NorthVoice, these signaling incompatibilities can represent a major roadblock to deployment. With over 14 years experience and a core competency in designing protocol conversion and signaling gateway solutions, FastComm can assist organizations like NorthVoice to penetrate these international markets much more quickly, resulting in increased service revenues.

"We are delighted to work with NorthVoice and assist them in rolling out their global VoIP network and achieve their goal of delivering the highest quality international long distance service at the best price," said Peter Madsen, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "With our existing library of protocols already supported, coupled with our ability to quickly customize software, we feel confident that we can further build on our relationship with NorthVoice," added Madsen.
