Fashions of The Times is Biggest Issue Since 1986; Ad Pages Up Nine Percent Over Last Year.

 Times Magazine's fall Fashions of The Times, to be published on August 18, is the largest issue since 1986, with 144 advertising pages, up nine percent from last year's 132 ad pages. Fashions of The Times, a Part 2 section of The Magazine, has seen consecutive increases in ad pages for the past five years.

"We saw increases in 10 categories in the fall Fashions of The Times, led by strong growth in domestic fashion advertising," said Alexis Buryk, group vice president of advertising for The New York Times. "A 12-page insert from The Gap is indicative of the strength in American fashion."

The theme of the fall issue is pilgrimages. "A curious wanderlust has cast its spell on fashion and the world it dresses," writes Style Editor Amy Spindler. Michael Wines reports from Moscow on that city's booming economy and growing fashion sense. Herbert Muschamp writes about Conrad Hilton and his modernist hotels in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in "Peace Lobby."
