Fashion week frenzy as womens wear collections take to the catwalk.


GLAMOUR and style will be in abundance over the next five days as London plays host to the fashion world.

More than 4, 500 buyers, journalists and photographers are expected to attend London Fashion Week which starts today.

They have come to see the autumn/winter womens wear collections by designers such as Nicole Farhi Nicole Farhi (born July 25, 1946) is a French fashion designer and sculptor of Algerian descent who was born in Nice in France and is now based in London.

She started her career in Paris doing freelance work, before moving to London in the 1970s to work with Stephen Marks on
, Jean Muir, Betty Jackson, Amanda Wakeley and Margaret Howell.

Much attention will be on the dozen or so new names who will be thrust into the spotlight.

It is the first time since September 2002 that the event has not been held in up market King's Road area of Chelsea.

Organisers relocated south of the Thames to Battersea Park after coming up against planning problems.

There will be 47 catwalk shows over the next five days.

Visitors to the tented complex which is the headquarters of London Fashion Week will be met by a new work created by controversial artist Tracey Emin.

The piece is said to be made from pink neon and shaped to the form the words ``Kiss Me''. There is no word on how much she was paid.

Emin said: ``I'm a great supporter of London Fashion Week.

``The space I'm working in is quite intimate and so the neon will look really vibrant.

``It'll tell you what fashion means to me. ''
