Fashion: Striking a cord; Shereen Low investigates the new look for cord.Byline: Shereen Low YEAR after year, cord remains an ever popular fabric, with stores brimming to the full to satisfy cord-crazy fans. And no wonder. It's so versatile that it can be teamed with denim for a casual weekend outfit, or it can also be dressed up with silk and satin for a dressier day-to-evening look. Hilary Owen, B's fashion editor, explains its appeal: ``Cord is a staple because it's a great alternative to denim. It can be smart or casual, although this winter, it's been given a vintage 70s feel. Topshop too has picked up on the trend this season. The 70s style flared cords, pounds 38, and boot cut cord trousers, pounds 32, are not just for students.
