Carl Farrell today was appointed general manager of SAS' Canadian subsidiary.

Farrell will oversee all aspects of the company's Canadian operations, including sales, marketing, education, alliances and consulting services activities. He will report to Marianna Suciu, SAS Vice President of Strategy.

Farrell's priorities will include building existing relationships with SAS Canada customers, many of whom who have been using SAS software for more than 20 years, and bringing vertical business applications to leading organizations across Canada.

"Carl's global software experience will be an asset as SAS and its global partners continue to bring true business intelligence to our customers across Canada and North America," said Suciu.

Farrell has extensive experience in the technology industry, having held executive-level positions with J.D. Edwards and Idiom Technologies. Before joining SAS, Farrell was a vice president of the Vignette Corporation, a leading provider of integrated content management applications. Farrell was also one of the original employees of JBA Holdings Plc. JBA, based in the UK, was a leading supplier of ERP and supply chain software. Farrell was a key participant as the company grew from its original work force of 10 employees to more than 2,000 employees with revenues close to $400 million. Farrell is a graduate of Wulfrun College of Further Education, Wolverhampton, England.
