Farmers settles Texas mold case with policyholder Ballard.

A long-running legal dispute between Farmers Insurance Group and policyholder Melinda Ballard that drew nationwide attention to the issue of "toxic mold" has been settled, both sides confirmed.

"The parties have agreed to a confidential settlement, and so, we can't comment on the matter further than that," Farmers spokeswoman Michelle Levy said.

Ballard--the founder of consumer advocacy group Policyholders of America--also said she couldn't comment on the specific terms of the agreement.
