Farmers insurance chief auto actuary dies in car accident.

John Green, Farmers Insurance Group's regional vice president of automobile product management and chief auto actuary, died on Feb. 1, of injuries sustained in an auto accident, the company said.

Green, 44, joined Farmers as an actuarial student in June 1992 after graduating from California State Polytechnic University, where he obtained a master's degree in mathematics in 1990. Prior to that, he earned a bachelor's degree from the university in 1985.

According to the company, Green created the most successful product launch in the organization's history, introducing a new popular California auto insurance program in 2005. Green was named to his position in June 2006 after rising through the ranks as an analyst and senior analyst, actuarial assistant and assistant actuary. A member of California's Assigned Risk Plan Board of Directors, he was awarded a Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society in 1998.
