Farmers Insurance Group(R) Enters Float in 2006 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade; ``Protecting Your Family'' is Farmers' 47th Entry.


LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- Farmers Insurance Group(R) is proud to participate in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade The Tournament of Roses Parade was established, and first held, on January 1,1890, in Pasadena, California, eight miles (13 km) northeast of Downtown Los Angeles.

Rooted in tradition, this parade is broadcast on multiple television networks, watched by upwards of one

The California Finance Department estimates the Pasadena population to be 146,166 in 2005. . This is Farmers' 47th year of participating in the parade. This year, the parade theme is "It's Magic" and Farmers' float is titled "Protecting Your Family."

Protecting your family is one of the primary instincts that make up the magical qualities of motherhood. This year, the Farmers float demonstrates the magic of a mother's love as shown by a giant tyrannosaurus Tyrannosaurus (tīrăn'ōsôr`əs, tĭr–) [Gr.,=tyrant lizard], member of a family, Tyrannosauridae, of bipedal carnivorous saurischian dinosaurs characterized by having strong hind limbs, a muscular tail, and short  rex. Riding the float are Farmers 2005 Agent of the Year, Dave Clayton of Castro Valley, California Castro Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Alameda County, California, United States. As of the 2000 census, it is the fifth most populous unincorporated area in California, and the twenty-third in the United States.  and 2005 District Manager of the Year, Jeff Hastings of Houston, Texas.

Flowers are the hallmark of any entry in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, and the Farmers float is certain to be a crowd-pleaser in this area, too. A wide selection of produce will be utilized to achieve a prehistoric look for the tyrannosaurs and velociraptors -- accented by roses, orchids, irises and daisies making up the garden and foliage.

The Farmers float is being constructed at the Rose Palace at 835 S. Raymond Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91105.
