Farmers Announces Filing of Endorsement to HOA Policy.

Late last week, Farmers announced its intention to non-renew the Texas HOB policy and offer its homeowners customers the Texas HOA policy.

To ensure its policyholders have the benefit of expanded coverage with the HOA policy, on November 16, 2001, Farmers filed an endorsement to be added to the HOA policy with the Texas Department of Insurance. In addition to coverage provided under the basic HOA policy, the endorsement will provide for limited water coverage, falling of trees or limbs, weight of ice, snow, or sleet, collapse of a building, and breakage of glass.

This endorsement will enable Farmers to provide a homeowners policy to its Texas customers that is similar to the homeowners policy that Farmers offers in the other 40 states that it does business in. Farmers personnel have already been in contact with the Staff of the Texas Department of Insurance to discuss the endorsement and Farmers looks forward to working with the TDI for an expeditious approval of the endorsement.
