Communications, Inc. (RFD). The filings inform the agencies of certain operations of RFD that Farm Journal believes violate RFD's non-profit 501(c)(3) status and Congressional requirements for noncommercial programming on RFD's Directv and Echostar channels.

The filings, formally made November 28th, reflect Farm Journal's own careful investigation of RFD's operations over the past year. The IRS letter contends that RFD's non-profit status provides it with an unfair competitive advantage in the marketplace. Further, the filings outline examples of pervasive commercial programming on RFD which both competes unfairly with Farm Journal's own national television programs, and should disqualify To deprive of eligibility or render unfit; to disable or incapacitate.

To be disqualified is to be stripped of legal capacity. A wife would be disqualified as a juror in her husband's trial for murder due to the nature of their relationship.
RFD as an FCC qualified educational programmer. Farm Journal is taking the definitive step of requesting formally that the FCC and IRS launch their own investigations into these matters.

The FCC filing (which includes the IRS complaint as an exhibit) is a public document. The filing is available in the FCC's public reference room in Washington, D.C., and may be obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request (see www.fcc.gov/foia). It also may be obtained through Farm Journal's communications agency, Dye Van Mol & Lawrence, at http://www.dvl.com/farmjournal.
