Class 6A boys soccer playoffs Tuesday night at South Eugene High School South Eugene High School is a public high school located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was founded as Eugene High School around 1900, and was located at Willamette Street and West 11th Avenue in a brick building that later served as Eugene's city hall. .

"The biggest thing is we were able to overcome a two-week layoff and realize that this is what we have been waiting for and we were able to get after it tonight," South Eugene coach Colin McMillen said.

"The boys understood who we were going against. Westview is a quality team from a quality league; the Metro is definitely tough."

player of the year, scored off an assist from Joe Claycomb in the eighth minute to put the Axemen ahead 1-0.

"That was real important because the longer it goes it just becomes anyone's game," Farina-Henry said. "We really wanted to get that first one. We took our first couple chances and put one away and then we could relax and get a couple more."

Farina-Henry made it 2-0 when he made a penalty kick with 7:53 left in the first half.

"Overall, I think we did a good job of coming out early and getting that early one and then forcing the issue," McMillen said. "Making them kind of play with us and we did a good job of tactically sorting it out."

Less than a minute into the second half, Farina-Henry passed to Apolinar Sanchez, who scored to put the Axemen ahead 3-0.

Sanchez added an assist on Tom Claycomb's goal in the 53rd minute that gave the Axemen a 4-0 lead.

"The last two goals we had were beautiful soccer," McMillen said. "Knocking it here and there, getting it outside and then finishing well. It was great stuff."

Westview, the Metro League runner-up, got a late goal from Sean Pullin.

The Axemen will face either Clackamas or McMinnville, who play today, in

the quarterfinals on Saturday.

"I'm satisfied that we now understand we've gotten past the first game, gotten past the layoff, and we'll figure things out for the next game," McMillen said.

"It's game-by-game at this point. We have incredibly high hopes."

The Axemen are the favorite to capture the first 6A title.

"This feels good, but it's just one in a string of more I hope," Farina-Henry said. "One down, and we've got a few more to go."
