Farewell to a city star; You Say.LASTweek was a very sad one for Liverpool. We lost a great character and a historic institution. Vincent Burke, that colourful, loquacious lo·qua·cious adj. Very talkative; garrulous. [From Latin loqu x, loqu character, so
knowledgeable about crime and the law, whose solemn but magnificent
funeral I attended with hundreds of others, has sadly departed. And the
historic newspaper stall, founded some 80 years ago outside Central
Station by the Shields family is no longer. In a Liverpool of
diminishing colour and character, we should all lament their passing
because we will not see their like again.
