The new firmware is a free upgrade to Netopia Internet Router (1) A router in the Internet that forwards IP packets between local, regional and national providers. Same as "IP router."

"Our engineering team is continually looking at ways to improve the customer's experience with Internet access See how to access the Internet.  and we are proud to be providing the most easy-to-use and cost-effective solution on the market," said Michael Trupiano, vice president of research and development for Netopia systems.

Netopia is a unique family of ISDN Internet products and services that eliminate Internet access hassles and reduce costs. The Netopia Internet Solution encompasses: 1) a line of Netopia Internet access routers and ISDN modems, 2) Internet software, and 3) Internet support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  to provide one-stop shopping and assist individuals, workgroups, businesses and schools who would like high-speed Internet See broadband.  access but are intimidated by the complexities involved. Special versions of Netopia developed for specific international markets will be available later this year.

Increased User Benefits

Based on customer feedback, Farallon improved the way dynamic Multilink PPP works in order to minimize a customer's ISDN line charges and make the architecture ready for the emerging BACP (Bandwidth Allocation Control Protocol) An IETF standard for adding and dropping the second B channel during an ISDN session. Working in conjunction with Multilink PPP, it enables sending and receiving devices to negotiate the required bandwidth.  (Bandwidth Allocation Bandwidth allocation refers to various methods used in the communications industry to design and assign frequency channels to different wireless applications. Also on programs such as Bittorent or Limewire.  Control Protocol) standard. The new feature allows a Netopia user to have "bandwidth on demand." For example, Netopia will automatically determine the bandwidth need for a user's particular Internet session and will dynamically transition between the use of one and two B channels. This allows a user to reduce ISDN line charges by not paying for two B channels when only one may be necessary at a particular moment.

Farallon also enhanced the configuration interface to give the user and the Internet service provider Internet service provider (ISP)

) more information about system usage in the statistics and event history areas. With this enhanced ISDN, PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) The most popular method for transporting IP packets over a serial link between the user and the ISP. Developed in 1994 by the IETF and superseding the SLIP protocol, PPP establishes the session between the user's computer and the ISP using  and system logging, the time required to fine tune your ISDN connection is reduced and customer satisfaction is increased. The configuration interface will now provide more information on authentication, compression, and Multilink PPP on a per session numbers. When there is an error, Netopia will provide the user or ISP with a reason code so that the problem is identified immediately and can be resolved shortly thereafter.

While the Netopia Internet Router is the ideal solution for workgroups, small to medium-sized businesses, and schools, Netopia typically dials into and communicates with large scale routers traditionally found at ISP sites. Therefore, with Netopia Firmware 1.1 and future releases, Farallon is continually adding to its list the number of large scale routers with which it is certified. Currently, Netopia is certified with all the major large-scale routers, but Farallon is continuing its testing to increase the interoperability with some of the less popular routers that customers may be contacting at ISP sites.

Netopia Highlights

The Netopia Internet routers connect local area networks to the Internet via ISDN, providing shared, easy-to-use, high-performance and cost-effective Internet connectivity.

"With Netopia, small businesses do not have to compromise. Netopia offers the most comprehensive solution in this price range for mixed-platform environments consisting of Windows, Novell, Macintosh and Unix networks," said Anil Uberoi, director of Netopia product marketing.
