Far-right party election vow.


The far right National Front is to field at least one candidate on Tyneside at the General Election expected next year.

Kenneth Booth, who contested last week's local elections in Newburn, is to fight the Newcastle North constituency represented by former Labour Minister Doug Henderson For the Scottish National Party politician, see .

Mr Booth, 50, a former printer who lives in Fenham, said the party may field other candidates in the North East.

The National Front which fought three seats in Newcastle, one in South Tyneside and one in North Tyneside, at the local elections, is best known for its anti-immigration policies.

The party would halt all non-white immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. Motives for immigration, like those for migration generally, are often economic, although religious or political factors may be very important.  and would introduce a policy of "humane" repatriation Repatriation

It would detain and screen all asylum seekers and remove all illegal immigrants immediately. Mr Booth, who received 446 votes in Newburn, or 5.4% of the total, denied they are racist.

"We stand for common sense," he said.

Mr Henderson said: "The people of Newcastle North understand what the National Front stands for and I don't believe they will have any truck with it."
