Far EasTone, Juniper team up to tap Taiwan's information security market.Taipei, Sept. 25, 2009 (CENS) -- Far EasTone Telecom Co., Ltd. recently announced its allying with Juniper Networks Inc. to tap Taiwan's information-security market, which is projected at NT$16 billion (US$484 million at US$1:NT$33) in revenue for this year and NT$18.3 billion (US$554 million) for next year. Far EasTone executives said the alliance will target the island's 4-500,000 small and mid businesses as its major customers. The alliance, they said, has projected to sign up 10% of the businesses by the end of next year and 20% in long term. The team has planned to signed up 1,000 customers by the end of this year. The executives said the alliance specifically pinpoints the businesses emerging from the economic downturn on ground that the survivors are likely to grow into frontrunners of their industries. Far EasTone, a leading cellular-service provider in Taiwan, has begun offering information-security services to large enterprises. In the collaboration with Juniper on small- and mid-business market, Juniper will offer security gateways while Far EasTone will offer complete set of services. Far EasTone will procure Juniper's customer-premise equipment and charge subscribers NT$1,000-2,000 (US$30-60 at US$1:NT$33) a month for the service. The cellular-service provider has depended on corporate customers for NT$22 billion (US$666 million) of its revenue. The company provides them telecom service and information-communications integration service. So far, it has signed up 100,000 corporate customers on the island, controlling around 10% of corporate-service market. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. now has around 70%. ((KL)) (E) |
