2 series Ainsley's Gourmet Express in which he comes up with quick and easy ideas to make an extravagant dinner party a painless affair.

Y OU'RE hosting an imaginary dinner party and can invite anyone in the world, living or dead, to your house for one night only. . .

Who would be on your invitation list - and why?

"Martin Luther King because I would like to ask him whether his dream has been realised. Mia Angelou, because she was born as a slave, yet is one of the great poets and writers of our time. She has lived through the period since Martin Luther King made his famous 'I have a dream' speech and I'd love to ask her what changes she thinks there have been. Peter Snow, because he does a lot of work with black communities and really seems to care when he talks to people. He is also stimulating as a news broadcaster, and very bright."

What food would you serve?

"To start with I'd serve Acke and Saltfish with Johnnie Bakes, followed by classic red bean stew and dumplings.

The stew is my mother's recipe and is just fantastic - it's pure comfort food. For dessert I'd serve Blue Mountain Coffee Granita gra·ni·ta
n.

[Italian, from feminine past participle of granire, to make grainy, granulate
, and we'd have lots of lovely rum punch to drink."

Which music would you play?

"Nice classic, Nina Simone."

Who would you have as the lackey in the kitchen?

"Enoch Powell."

Which after dinner joke would you tell?

"A sandwich walks into a pub and says, 'A pint of lager please'. The barman replies, 'Sorry we don't serve food'."

How would this unlikely event compare to the way you normally entertain friends?

"I don't normally invite dead people to dinner."
