Fannie Mae guidelines.

* Fannie Mae guidelines

Fannie Mae has released document custodian guidelines that address eligibility requirements, operating standards and program policies and procedures for holders of documents for loans the agency buys or securitizes. The guidelines were the final result of several rounds of negotiations between Fannie Mae and representatives of the industry.

The requirements will become effective in October. Fannie Mae's announcement states that the agency expects servicers to establish ways to monitor the financial viability and operational capabilities of the custodians they use.
