Famous Fixins, Inc. Loads the Bases with Caminiti, Bagwell and Biggio of the Houston Astros.
The three players, Jeff Bagwell (1st Baseman), Craig Biggio (2nd Baseman), and Ken Caminiti (3rd baseman) will all lend their names and faces to one cereal box commemorating highlights of their careers. In addition, as this 1999 baseball season is the last season for the Astros playing in the Astrodome, the Company will randomly seed 1,999 commemorative baseball cards into the cereal boxes highlighting the three players and the history of the Astrodome.
The Company is currently in negotiations with Major League Baseball Properties for the rights to use the Astros and MLB logos for the new cereal.
The Company expects to launch this new cereal next month, following its already successful launch of Cal Ripken Jr.'s cereal, 'Cal's Classic O's.' In its first week out, the Company has already shipped approximately $250,000 worth of Cal's cereal to various supermarkets in the Baltimore / Washington area.
A portion of the proceeds from the Astros' cereal will be donated to D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) which is an officer-led, in-classroom, anti-drug, anti-violence science-based education program for school children in grades K-12. More than 35 million US children in more than 300,000 classrooms will benefit from D.A.R.E. in 1999.
Famous Fixins is a manufacturer and distributor of celebrity food products. These three superstars join Famous Fixins' celebrity line-up, which already includes Cal Ripken, Jr., Olympia Dukakis and Erik Estrada. The Company is presently negotiating with additional high-profile celebrities and athletes for new food product introductions.
