The "Brothel of the Year" award is presented to the brothel which is not only the most popular brothel in Nevada but is also judged the most outstanding in terms of the overall quality of its operation and personnel. Accepting the award at the CWMC's annual banquet was Debbie Rivenburgh, Manager of the famed brothel. She remarked: "We are particularly pleased to receive this award because it was voted on not by our peers in the industry but by those who use the services of brothels BROTHELS, crim. law. . We have never been satisfied to rest on our 158-year history. We strive to be a `class act' where gentlemen can visit us and just relax and enjoy themselves and know that they will be treated with the utmost respect and courtesy."

Rivenburgh also emphasized that when the current management took control of The Chicken Ranch in 1982, it also had other major goals it wanted to achieve. First and foremost of these she stressed was to conduct the business in a totally legal, ethical and forthright manner. The ownership wanted to ensure that both the brothel's personnel and clients were protected at all times and that the brothel achieved a reputation for honesty, integrity and having the best working ladies in the business.

In addition, Rivenburgh reported, the goal was to provide a neat, clean, orderly and comfortable operating environment In computing, an operating environment is the environment in which users run programs, whether in a command line interface, such as in MS-DOS or the Unix shell, or in a graphical user interface, such as in the Macintosh operating system.  where everyone could enjoy themselves. Strict guidelines were set up as to the conduct of the working ladies - with an emphasis on being respectful and courteous - as well as the clientele, including specific restrictions on drugs and alcohol for both personnel and clients, she said.

Taking note that the current ownership is celebrating its 20th year in managing the brothel, Rivenburgh hastened to add: "I believe this award is a good indication that these goals have been achieved and that our brothel has reached that desired level of excellence."
