Fall's Top 10. (Beauty Trends).

From bangs to brows and lots of brown, we have the buzz on fall beauty!

THE LOOK

Twisted hair

WHAT WE USED

Gigahold Freeze Hair Putty, $6, drugstores

HOW WE DID IT

This pieced-out, beachy look works best on girls with thicker hair that has some wave to it. Working in random, one-inch sections, take a dab of pliable pomade pomade (pō·mādˑ),
n a substance that comprises the fat that contains fragrant materials produced by enfleurage.
, and coat and twist hair as you go.

Hair isn't thick and wavy? Try the same technique of twisting sections to bring new life to a plain ponytail!

When they were first launched, Bill Cosby acted as spokesperson for Pudding Pops. He called them "Puddin' Pops!" ," warns hair-and-makeup expert Lori Caledonia-Pressman.

Brown can wash out pale skin and disappear against some darker skins. Instead, try a rosier, goldy brown, like Bella Lip Gloss in Suki, $12, www.bellabeauty.net

Blow dry hair smooth. Using a rattail comb, part hair no lower than the outer corner of your eye (imagine drawing a line from the edge of your eye up to your part). To help hair stay in place and smooth any breakage, use a little pomade on your part. Lightly spray hair to finish.

No time to blow dry? After shampooing, work in Fudge Erekt, $17, www.fudge.com. Part, then smooth hair with a wide-tooth comb. Let dry.

Brown nails

WHAT WE USED

Essie in Wicked, $8, 1-800-232-1155

HOW WE DID IT

"Brown nails are huge for fall," says nail expert Pasqua Kramer. "Everything from bronzes to metallic chocolate." The key to making brown look its best? Says Pasqua, "Shape your nails like short, squared-off ovals that don't extend past the tips of your fingers. Brown on long, pointed nails is just plain scary."

Deep brown nail color isn't for everyone. Pale skin looks better with a cherry-brown color (we like Cerise Noire by Bourjois). If you have darker skin, try silver-y brown like Gosh Nail Lacquer lacquer, solution of film-forming materials, natural or synthetic, usually applied as an ornamental or protective coating. Quick-drying synthetic lacquers are used to coat automobiles, furniture, textiles, paper, and metalware.  in Dusty, $8, 1-888-352-8629.

Flipped ends

WHAT WE USED

ARTec Textureline Straight Spray, $12, 1-866-849-4095

HOW WE DID IT

Working section by section, Lori spritzed Hilary's hair with Straight Spray. She then flat-ironed it, bending the ends out as she moved the iron off the hair. "If you have really fine, straight hair, you might need to emphasize the bend with a curling iron," says Lori.

If using a flat iron is too much time and effort, just blow dry hair straight and use The Marilyn Brush, $30, 1-800-561-7024, to flip out Verb 1. flip out - react in an excited, delighted, or surprised way; "he flipped when he heard that he was accepted into Princeton University"
