Falk's steel castings receive navy approval.

Falk's Steel Castings Steel casting is a manufacturing process in which molten metal is poured into a mold, allowed to solidify within the mold, and then the mold is broken and the solid piece is taken out.  Receive Navy Approval

The Falk Corp, Milwaukee, WI-based subsidiary of Sundstrand Corp, has been approved by Naval Sea Systems Command The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is the largest of the U.S. Navy's five "systems commands," or materiel organizations. NAVSEA consists of four shipyards, eight "warfare centers" (two undersea and six surface), four major shipbuilding locations and the NAVSEA headquarters, , Department of the Navy, as a supplier of steel castings for HY-80 MIL-S-23008D(SH) requirements. This certification allows Falk to bid on steel casting contracts involving a variety of Naval vessels.

HY-80 is a sturdy, lightweight grade of steel with a tensile yield strength of 80,000 lb/sq in. It is a low carbon, high alloy steel that is used for critical structural applications requiring a high strength, weldable material. The castings could be specified for a number of parts aboard ships and submarines.

Castings up to 32,000 lb can be poured with maximum sulfur and phosphorus phosphorus (fŏs`fərəs) [Gr.,=light-bearing], nonmetallic chemical element; symbol P; at. no. 15; at. wt. 30.97376; m.p. 44.1°C;; b.p. about 280°C;; sp. gr. 1.82 at 20°C;; valence −3, +3, or +5.  levels at .008 and .014, respectively. Carbon, alloy and stainless steels stainless steel: see steel.
stainless steel

Any of a family of alloy steels usually containing 10–30% chromium. The presence of chromium, together with low carbon content, gives remarkable resistance to corrosion and heat.
complement the remainder of their capacity, with stainless casting weights a weight that turns a balance when exactly poised.

Falk's certification permits the waiving of "first article" test requirements, up to and including eight inch sections, and automatically qualifies the company to produce earlier revisions of this specification.

It consists of a rotating wire rope or coil which is flexible but has some torsional stiffness.  couplings, backstops, fluid power drives and fluid couplings, as well as custom marine drives for various applications and custom metal castings.
