Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), the leading global supplier of high performance products that optimize power, today announced the company's power switch products, FPS(TM), have won a prestigious award as Best Product in the Semiconductor Technology Development competition. This event is organized by the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA) and sponsored by the ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy

in Korea.

The annual competition is designed to encourage the development of semiconductor related products while accelerating innovation and was held in conjunction with the 6th Semiconductor & Display Exhibition Korea (SEDEX) in Seoul. Fairchild's Power Switch products are used in a broad range of applications that include battery chargers and adapters, mobile phones, PDAs, MP3 players, color TVs, monitors and auxiliary power for PCs.

"With a focus on power conservation, our FPS products were designed to reduce stand-by mode power consumption, a global issue," said Bob Conrad, Fairchild's senior vice president and general manager, Integrated Circuits Group. "For example, if every notebook sold worldwide in 2003 was on standby 50% of the time, the energy savings with Fairchild components would be enough to power over 25,000 households annually. Our FPS products have met global standards for stand-by power including the International Energy Agency's 1-Watt Initiative. As further recognition of our leading innovation in power switches, we recently won the Best Product for 1-W Initiative from analogZONE - a premier online source for electronics design engineers.
