Fair deal.

The April 18 story "Global Crossing Settlement Called Wrist Slap as Case Ends" conveys a misleading impression regarding Gary Winnick Gary Winnick was a founder of Global Crossing Limited, a telecommunications company providing worldwide computer networking services. He was CEO from the company's inception, 1997, until 2002. .

To set the record straight, Winnick's sale of stock over a four-year period represented just 30 percent of his total holdings. The Securities and Exchange Commission deemed after a thorough and complete investigation that no charges should be brought against him.

In addition, Winnick's personal contribution of $25 million for Global Crossing employees to offset their 401(k) losses was both voluntary and unprecedented and a gesture to help those hurt by the downturn in the telecommunications industry.

Unfortunately, prior incorrect reports in the media often get repeated. It is important that your readers have all the facts.
