Fads in education.

I found Craig Howley's article, "Just Say NO to Fads" (March 2006), to be quite interesting.

Over the years I have seen educators being asked (or told) to try different things in the name of improving education--and not much seems to happen. Educators have gotten to the point where they do not jump so quickly to try new things because they have seen these plans come and go. They know that next year or the year after there will be a new process to try and it will soon be in the past also.

I also have seen many duties being added to K-12 educators to the point I wish I could clone clone, group of organisms, all of which are descended from a single individual through asexual reproduction, as in a pure cell culture of bacteria. Except for changes in the hereditary material that come about by mutation, all members of a clone are genetically  my staff so one could teach students while the clone took care of inclusion, school improvement, technology, grant writing and NCLB NCLB No Child Left Behind (US education initiative)  data.
