Factiva Leadership Award and the European Special

Librarian of the Year Award Winners Announced

at the 92nd SLA Annual Conference

Factiva, a Dow Jones & Reuters Company, and the Special Libraries Association (SLA) announced today the recipients of two annual awards. Carol L. Ginsburg, Managing Director, Head of Global Business Information Services, Deutsche Bank, has been selected to receive the Factiva Leadership Award and Annabel Colley, Web Producer of BBC Current Affairs, has been awarded the European Special Librarian of the Year Award.

These awards, selected by SLA and sponsored by Factiva, seek to distinguish those who make outstanding accomplishments in the information field and its rapidly changing environment in today's information age. Both Ms. Ginsburg and Ms. Colley have been recognized for their remarkable personal and professional contributions to their organizations, peers and the larger world of knowledge management.

Carol L. Ginsburg, as the Global Head of Business Information Services, manages Deutsche Bank's information departments world-wide. Ms. Ginsburg has exemplified leadership in her profession by founding the Bankers Trust New York Information Center, sitting on the advisory board of Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies and contributing much of her personal time to SLA.

Annabel Colley, currently chair of the Association of UK Media Librarians, started her career as a librarian in the BBC's Film and Videotape Library. She was an early advocate of Web-based research and has trained many journalists in computer assisted research techniques. She was instrumental in developing the BBC Information and Archive into a virtual library. This site, now known as Research Central, is a major research portal for the BBC's program makers, giving them access to both internal and external databases. Ms. Colley, as their first Web producer, took BBC Panorama online and now coordinates online and interactive content from BBC current affairs programs.
