 FURR'S/BISHOP'S ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENT
 LUBBOCK, Texas, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Furr's/Bishop's, Incorporated


(NYSE: CHI) announced today that William L. Hyde Jr. has joined the company as president and chief operating officer of its Family Dining Division. The announcement was made by William E. Prather, CEO and president of Furr's/Bishop's, Incorporated.
 In making the announcement, Prather said, "Hiring Bill Hyde is one of several strategic steps we have taken to ensure we meet our future goals. Bill's leadership and experience added to the executive team will strengthen our cafeteria and family dining business." Prather added, "We are very pleased to have attracted such a seasoned, smart and aggressive food service executive as Bill Hyde. He will make a difference."
 After graduating in 1970 from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a degree in marketing, Bill joined Chart House, Inc. in their Burger King division. In 1982, he was appointed as president and chief executive officer of Chart House, Inc., which included five restaurant concepts and a total of 515 restaurants. In 1987 he was appointed president and chief executive officer of Del Taco Restaurants, Inc., which included the Del Taco and Taco Villa concepts. Most recently, Bill had been serving as executive vice president of Miami Subs Corporation.
 Furr's/Bishop's, Incorporated is one of the largest operators of cafeterias in the United States, operating 118 cafeterias in 10 states in the Southwest, West and Midwest under the name "Furr's", and 19 cafeterias in five states in the Midwest under the name "Bishop". Additionally, the company operates eight specialty restaurants in five states and produces prepared food for both internal use and for outside sales.
