Everett, a 42-year-old Lancaster resident, was among a half-dozen shoppers who showed up within minutes of the doors opening and headed straight for the shelves containing more than 100 dolls. ``I came by yesterday to look for some old records, and one of the nice ladies told me the dolls were going to be out today,'' said Everett, who quickly snatched up two baby dolls wrapped in colorful crocheted blankets and clothes. ``So I came by, and they are absolutely gorgeous. They're darling. Look at the beautiful, little dolls.'' Priced from $3 to $15, the refurbished dolls are being sold at the New-to-You Thrift Shop, 329 West Ave. I. The hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Shuck said she helped out this year for the first time after reading about it in the newspaper. She crocheted tiny bassinets and afghans for 12 dolls. ``I enjoyed it very much. I have asthma and can't get out very often. This is something I can do at home,'' said Shuck, 64, of Lancaster. ``When people found out what I was doing, they picked up dolls at garage sales and gave them to me.'' Shuck said she plans to help out again next year. The dolls range from Cabbage Patch Cabbage patch may refer to:

Graves said she declares every year that she is stepping down as head of the doll project, only to do the job when no one else steps forward to take her place. But this time she is serious about letting someone else take over. ``It's been a joy. I had lots of good help,'' Graves said. Other volunteers praise Graves' dedication. ``She's done her share of work,'' volunteer Bobby Draves said. ``She did a fabulous job. She organizes the ladies, sees they get the dolls and the materials they need.''
