Tens of thousands of visitors are expected throughout the weekend - and, according to visitors and people trying to direct traffic, it felt like tens of thousands already had arrived Saturday.

``I have never seen it like this,'' said longtime participant Shawna Sims, who has attended nine of the 14 poppy festivals. ``It's awesome, though, 'cause it looks like there's even more things here this year.''

``People are filling up parking areas where we didn't want them parking,'' said volunteer Tom Braunich. ``They start pulling in before we can even put out `no parking' signs in the morning. It's a madhouse.''

Last year's festival drew more than 37,000 people to the two-day event despite rain falling on the first day.

This year's festival featured Frisbee-catching dogs, a Viking ship reproduction and artifacts artifacts
