FULL FINAL FOUR(R) FRENZY FROM SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM

FULL FINAL FOUR(R) FRENZY FROM SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
CHICAGO, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Nintendo of America Inc.:
Final Four(R). You're down by a basket with less than a minute left in the NCAA championship game. You dribble up court, avoiding the handchecks of the opposing point guard, and consider your options. Force a pass inside, and it will be intercepted. Drive for the hoop, and you run the risk of drawing the offensive foul. Set up for the three-pointer and the win, and you know you'll face a double team. Take too long to make up your mind, and the 45-second clock will run out.
It sounds like the real thing, and it plays like it, too. It's "NCAA Basketball," the most realistic hoops game ever to hit the home video screen, featuring the eye-popping motion of Nintendo's Mode 7 graphics capability. While most games sit you halfway up the stands at center court, this game puts you right on the hardwood, always looking over the ballhandler's shoulder. Turn to drive left or right, and the entire court shifts with you. Throw down the two-handed jam, and the court rotates 180 degrees as you move to defense.
"NCAA Basketball" is one of more than two dozen sports games announced for second-half release by Nintendo and its third-party licensees for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the world's leading 16-bit platform. "NCAA Basketball" will be distributed in America by Nintendo on sub-license from Hal America Inc., Beaverton, Ore.
Also in time for Christmas will be two other sports titles from Nintendo. First is the eagerly anticipated "Super Play Action Football," which gives gridiron fans 48 different offensive and defensive play choices, incredibly realistic play action, and the capability of competing at high school, college or pro levels of difficulty. Also available is "Super Soccer," whose dazzling graphics give the player a "down-on-the-field" perspective like never before.
Under special license from the NCAA, teams from five conferences are represented in "NCAA Basketball." Players can stage a single contest between Duke and Georgetown, or a full-season slate concluding with a realistic "Final Four" tournament.
Players may compete with the computer or each other. They may change offensive or defensive strategies on the fly, or call time out to order their squads to run the fast break at every opportunity, or crash the boards. Three different defensive fouls and seven different offensive turnover possibilities are replicated on the video screen for the most life-like basketball action ever.
Nintendo of America Inc. sells personal, home and arcade video games in the United States. The Redmond, Wash.-based company is headquarters for the company's marketing and manufacturing operations in North America, and is a subsidiary of the world's largest manufacturer and marketer of video games, Nintendo Co. Ltd.
NOTE: Final Four is a registered trademark of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
