FTD HELPS UNITE FAMILY AND FRIENDS ACROSS THE MILES THIS THANKSGIVING
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Traditionally, Thanksgiving is the most traveled holiday of the year. This year, however, higher airfares, increasing fuel costs, and less disposable income may prevent many Americans from traveling to be with loved ones. In response to economic trends and consumer needs, the Florists' Transworld Delivery Association (FTD)(R) is offering an affordable, unique way for consumers to send well-wishes and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends across the miles.
"We wanted to provide people with a cost-effective way to bridge the gap between friends and family who may not be able to travel to be with one another this Thanksgiving," said Ken Coley, president of FTD. "Our Autumn Harvest(TM) Bouquet reaches across the miles and celebrates both the beauty of the season and the joys of giving to loved ones."
The Autumn Harvest Bouquet features an assortment of flowers in rich red, orange and yellow hues arranged in an old-fashioned wicker basket. Stalks of golden wheat on a bed of green fern complete the arrangement and evoke visions of crisp sunny days and the traditional family gatherings of the season.
According to Coley, the Autumn Harvest Bouquet is perfect for wire delivery to friends and family both near and far, or to add a touch of seasonal cheer to holiday tables.
FTD, headquartered just outside of Detroit in Southfield, Mich., was founded in 1910 by 15 retail florists who agreed to exchange orders for out-of-town floral deliveries, and today is owned and directed by more than 24,000 independent retail member florists in the United States and Canada. In the 1991-92 fiscal year, member florists delivered nearly 20 million FTD flowers-by-wire orders which generated sales of just under $700 million.
