FT/S&P-Actuaries World Indices Quarterly Changes.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 1997--At its quarterly meeting held on 20 March 1997, the FT/S&P-Actuaries World Index Policy Committee agreed to add four (4) stocks and delete two (2) in Brazil, add nine (9) stocks and delete one (1) in Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov.  and add nine (9) stocks and delete four (4) in Japan with effect from 1 April 1997.

TREATMENT OF HALIFAX IN THE FT/S&P ACTUARIES WORLD INDICES

The FT/S&P Actuaries World Index Policy Committee decided, subject to listing, that the Halifax plc (formerly the Halifax Building Society) should be considered for inclusion in the index at a quarterly review and not immediately on listing of the company's shares. At this time it is expected that Halifax will be listed at the beginning of June and if so will enter the FT/S&P Actuaries UK index on 30 June 1997.
