FSTC Names New Executive Director.

) recently announced that Zachary Tumin has been named Executive Director of the organization. Tumin had been the organization's Director of Research since April 2000.

, Tumin received a Masters in Education from Harvard's Graduate School of Education, and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government The John F. New initiatives for FSTC include the design and proof-of-concept of the Financial Agent Secure Transaction (FAST) methodology, and an evaluation of technologies to automate the comparison of imaged signatures on checks, to reduce check fraud.

FSTC is a not-for-profit research and development organization comprised of banks, industry partners, financial service providers, technology companies, academic institutions, and government agencies. Founded in September 1993, the FSTC fosters the development of technology-based solutions to meet financial services industry needs and opportunities. FSTC sponsors project-oriented research and proof-of-concept activities on interbank issues, with a focus on interoperability requirements and standards. In addition, particular emphasis is placed on payment systems, electronic commerce and information delivery. The organization has sponsored pre-competitive collaborative infrastructural projects on behalf of the financial services industry in partnership with technology providers, the national laboratories, universities and government agencies.
