FSCT announces transitional slate of nominees to new Board of Directors.


In anticipation of the approval of Bylaws The rules and regulations enacted by an association or a corporation to provide a framework for its operation and management.

 has announced a slate of nominations for positions on the new Board.

The slate, which was developed by the Transitional Task Force under the auspices of the FSCT's Board of Directors, offers 10 persons for the nine available positions on the new Board. They, along with member-nominated individuals, will be placed before the membership for election.

The new, proposed Board would consist of the President and Vice President, who will be elected by the Board, and nine Directors, who will be elected directly by the FSCT membership. The slate placed in nomination by the FSCT includes the following individuals:

* Joe Brown, Cray (Cray, Inc., Seattle, WA, www.cray.com) A supercomputer manufacturer founded in 1972 as Cray Research, Inc., by Seymour Cray, a leading designer of large-scale computers at Control Data.  COATINGSTECH and will be placed on the ballot along with the names of the persons that have been reviewed and nominated by the Transitional Task Force.

The amendments to the Bylaws will be considered by the Board at its meeting on November 6 in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. . If approved, the above slate and member-nominated individuals will be voted on by the members in January 2006.

The deadline for receipt of Member-Nominated Petitions is October 3. Information and forms are available through FSCT Headquarters.

BOB AHN

Mr. Ahn is a member and Past-President of the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Society. He is currently Vice President--Key Accounts of E.T. Horn Co., La Mirada, CA. Previously, Mr. Ahn worked with Kronos as Senior Account Manager and as an Account Manager for Dow Chemical.

He holds a B.S. Degree in Biology and Business Administration from the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission , and was awarded an M.B.A. from Claremont Graduate University Claremont Graduate University (formerly The Claremont Graduate School) was founded in 1925 in the city of Claremont, California. It is one of two graduate institutions in the prestigious Claremont Colleges consortium, the other being the Keck Graduate Institute. . A veteran of 20 years in the coatings industry, Mr. Ahn served on the FSCT's Structure and Governance Committee.

LARRY BRANDENBURGER

Mr. Brandenburger is Vice President-Research & Development at The Valspar Corporation, Minneapolis, MN. He has been in the paint industry for 36 years. Previously, he worked as a paint chemist for Lilly Industries and a polymer chemist for Inmont.

A member of the FSCT Structure & Governance Task Force, Mr. Brandenburger is also a member of the Northwestern Society, for which he has served as President and for 13 years as the Society's Representative on the FSCT Board.

JOE BROWN

Mr. Brown, a member and Past-President of the British Society and a recipient of the Society's Distinguished Service Award, has worked in the coatings industry for 40 years. Currently, he is the Multi National Account Manager for Cray Valley Ltd., in Stallingsborough, UK. A graduate of London College of Printing, with a degree in printing ink technology, Mr. Brown has served on the FSCT Board of Directors since 1997, and has been a member of its Executive Committee since 2002. Most recently he was a member of the FSCT Alternate Events Steering Committee steerĀ·ing committee

Mr. Brown is a member of the European Resin Manufacturers Association and has served on its Executive Committee.

CHARLES E. CARNCROSS

Mr. Carncross has served the FSCT as a member of the Board of Directors, as Chair of the ICE Exhibitor Advisory Committee, and as a member of the Alternate Year Events Steering Committee. He is currently Vice President-Performance Chemicals for Buckman Laboratories, Inc., and is a member of the Southern Society.

He is 1979 graduate of Illinois State University ISU is recognized in the prestigious US News rankings as a "National University", that is, a university which grants a variety of doctoral degrees and strongly emphasizes research.  with a B.S. Degree in Chemistry and received his M.B.A. from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management Lake Forest Graduate School of Management is a business school located in Lake Forest, Illinois. It opened in 1946 and has satellite campuses in Schaumburg, Illinois and Chicago. Until 2004, the school was located near, but unaffiliated with, Lake Forest College. .

PAUL DELMONICO

Mr. Delmonico has been a member of the FSCT Board since 1999 and has been involved in the coatings industry for 29 years. He is Vice President of Old Western Paint Co., Inc., Denver, CO. A member of the Rocky Mountain Society, he served as its President (1996-97) and as Chair of several committees, including the Society's Year Book Committee.

A graduate of Western State College with Bachelor's Degrees in both Business Administration and Physical Education, Mr. Delmonico is an active volunteer in youth wrestling. He served as President of the Western Suburban League (1999-2002) and is currently Treasurer of the Colorado State Youth Wrestling Championship.

CHRIS HARDING

Mr. Harding is Technical Director at Waterlox Coatings, Cleveland, OH. Involved in the industry for 32 years, he previously worked as a research chemist with Coatings Research Group, Inc., and as Technical Director with both Akron Paint & Varnish varnish, homogeneous solution of gum or of natural or synthetic resins in oil (oil varnish) or in a volatile solvent (spirit varnish), which dries on exposure to air, forming a thin, hard, usually glossy film.  and Devine Paint & Varnish.

Currently a member of the FSCT Board of Directors, Mr. Harding also served on the FSCT's Nominating Committee A nominating committee is a group formed usually from inside the membership of an organization for the purpose of nominating candidates for office within the organization. It works similarly to an electoral college, the main difference being that the available candidates, either  and its Membership Task Force. He received an FSCT award citation in 2001 for gaining the most members in a large Society.

Active in the Cleveland Society, Mr. Harding was Chair of its Membership Committee, and is a member of the Society's Technical, Symposium, and Website Committees. He received the Society's Award of Appreciation in 1998, Award of Merit in 1999, and the Dr. Frank Selden Award--the Society's highest honor--in 2000. He was also the 2005 recipient of the President's Award The President's Award may mean:

THOMAS E. HILL

Mr. Hill began his career in the coatings industry with Mary Carter Paints in 1970, later joining Harris Paints in 1973, both in Tampa, FL. In 1975 he left to join Pratt & Lambert, Buffalo, NY, as a formulating chemist and rose through a variety of increasingly responsible positions to Vice President, R & D. Shortly following the acquisition of Pratt & Lambert by The Sherwin-Williams Company, Mr. Hill spent two and a half years as a consultant before starting The Coatings Alliance, in Buffalo, at which he holds the positions of President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. .

Mr. Hill has served the FSCT as its President (1997-1998) and on its Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Nominating Committee. During his tenure as President, he lent significant effort to the development of the organization's first strategic plan. Mr. Hill will receive the FSCT Heckel Award--the organization's highest honor--at its 2005 Annual Meeting.

As a member of the (former) Western New York
Western, New York is also the name of a town in Oneida County, New York.


Western New York refers to the westernmost region of New York State.
 Society, Mr. Hill served on its Scientific and Executive Committees, and as its representative on the FSCT Board of Directors from 1983-90. He was a member of the Society's Program and Educational Committees.

He also holds membership in the American Society of Quality and the American Productivity and Quality Center.

A member of the coatings industry for nearly 35 years, Mr. Hill was educated at West Virginia University West Virginia University, mainly at Morgantown; coeducational; land-grant and state supported; est. and opened 1867 as an agricultural college, renamed 1868.  and the State University of New York (body) State University of New York - (SUNY) The public university system of New York State, USA, with campuses throughout the state.  at Buffalo.

KEVIN PELLING

Mr. Pelling is currently a member of the Board of Directors and the FSCT Executive Committee. He has been employed in the coatings industry for 24 years and is the Senior Account Manager-Coatings and Inks, with L.V. Lomas Ltd., Brampton, Ont., Canada. He held positions previously with Chemroy Canada Inc., Inortech Chimie Inc., and Stochem, Inc.

With the FSCT, Mr. Pelling has served on the Membership Services Committee, Nominating Committee, and as Chair of the Society Secretaries Award Committee. In 1991, he received a Merit Citation for substantially increasing the Toronto Society's membership.

He twice served as President of the Toronto Society (1996 and 1999), was Chair of the Membership and Nominating Committees, and was a Trustee of the Society's Education Scholarship Fund.

Mr. Pelling is also a member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, the Oil & Colour Chemists' Association, the Canadian Professional Sales Association, and SSPC--The Society for Protective Coatings SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) is a professional organization for the industrial coatings industry. It was founded in 1950 as the Steel Structures Painting Council, a non-profit association concerned with the use of coatings to protect industrial steel structures .

Mr. Pelling was educated at Ryerson Polytechnical University in Toronto where he graduated in 1980 from the Chemical Technology Program with a Bachelor's Degree.

FRITZ WALKER

A Research Associate for Air Products & Chemicals' Performance Materials Technology Div., Allentown, PA, Dr. Walker serves the FSCT as its current President. He made significant contributions to the FSCT as Chair of the Structure and Governance Task Force and as a Chair of the Professional Development Committee. He is a member of the Philadelphia Society.

Dr. Walker was a recipient of the Roon Award (first place, 2001) and is a member of the FSCT Publications Committee and JCT RESEARCH Editorial Review Board.

A well-known author, lecturer, and patent holder, he received a B.A. Degree from Bloomfield College Bloomfield College is a private college located in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

Bloomfield College was founded by the Presbyterian Church in 1868 as German Theological Seminary of Newark, New Jersey to train German-speaking ministers.
, and M.S. and Ph.D. Degrees from Yale University Yale University, at New Haven, Conn.; coeducational. Chartered as a collegiate school for men in 1701 largely as a result of the efforts of James Pierpont, it opened at Killingworth (now Clinton) in 1702, moved (1707) to Saybrook (now Old Saybrook), and in 1716 was . Prior to joining Air Products, Dr. Walker was with Rohm and Haas Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE: ROH), a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based company, manufactures miscellaneous materials. A Fortune 500 Company, Rohm and Haas employs more than 17,000 people in 27 countries. The annual sales revenue of Rohm and Haas stands at about USD 8.2 billion.  Company's Pioneering Research Group, was Director of the Michigan Polymer Laboratory for Akzo Coatings, and was employed at Henkel Corp.'s Research Laboratory.

He is a member of the American Chemical Society The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a learned society (professional association) based in the United States that supports scientific inquiry in the field of chemistry. Founded in 1876 at New York University, the ACS currently has over 160,000 members at all degree-levels and in  and the Society for Protective Coatings.

JOSEPH P. WALTON

A Past-President of the FSCT (1994-95), J.P. Walton has also served the FSCT as the Chair of the Executive, Manufacturing, Nominating, and Finance Committees. He is a former Trustee of the Coatings Industry Education Foundation. Mr. Walton received the FSCT's Merit Citation in 1987 and its Distinguished Service Award in 1995.

A member of the Cleveland Society since 1984, Mr. Walton was Chair of the Manufacturing and Directory Committees and received the Society's Award for Merit.

He currently serves as CEO of Jamestown Paint Co. and Jamestown Powder Coatings Powder coating is a type of dry coating, which is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension , in Jamestown, PA.

In other industry service, Mr. Walton is currently a member of NPCA's Board of Directors (2000 to present), a coauthor of the NPCA Benchmark Survey, and has served on the organization's Membership and Manufacturing Management Committees.

He has also been President of the Cleveland Paint & Coatings Association and served on its Executive Committee from 1981-2001, receiving the CPCA's Distinguished Service Award in 1983 and 1997, and its Merit Citation in 1989 and 1994.
