FRUSTRATION ALL AROUND TIE UPSETS BOTH TEAMS GALAXY 0, CHIVAS USA 0.

CARSON -- The third ``Honda SuperClasico'' by the numbers:

One scoreless tie, a Galaxy-record 512-minute shutout streak, two Chivas USA shots off the post, an announced crowd of 20,820 fans, and one team ending the game with an overall record that comes straight out of one of the more scary parts of the Book of Revelation. In the end, all those numbers mean very little, because that's what Saturday's 0-0 tie between the Galaxy and Chivas USA at Home Depot Center accomplished for both teams in the standings.

``We just need to find a way now to make some plays when games are on the line,'' Chivas USA coach Bob Bradley said.

Saturday's result moves Chivas USA (6-6-6, 24 points) into a tie with Colorado for the fourth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference, while the Galaxy remains in fifth, five points behind. The end of a three-game win streak might prove devastating for the Galaxy as FC Dallas and Houston, which occupy the top two spots in the West, both won by identical 3-2 scores Saturday.

``I thought probably our worst performance since I've been here,'' said Galaxy coach Frank Yallop, who took over the Galaxy June 7. ``Having said that, we could have scored in the first minute of the match, both teams had chances to score, and it was an exciting nil-nil tie for the crowd. Not so much for the coaches.''

The Galaxy (5-10-4, 19 points) nearly took the lead in the second minute when forward Landon Donovan took a pass from Josh Gardner and approached the goal with Chivas defender Claudio Suarez in pursuit.

But before Donovan could shoot, Jason Hernandez came in to disrupt the play, and Chivas goalie Preston Burpo managed to get his body between the ball and the goal to stifle the chance.

In the 17th minute, Juan Pablo Garcia's soft floater from the right side of the box beat Galaxy keeper Kevin Hartman, but the shot caromed off the left post and Hartman smothered the rebound.

The woodwork was not finished denying Chivas. In the 55th minute, midfielder Sacha Kljestan one-timed a pass from Garcia and caught Hartman flatfooted, but his left-footed attempt went off the right post.

In Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup loss against amateur team Roma FC, Chivas shots hit the crossbar or post three times as the team was shutout.

The 6-6-6 record may not be the only bad omen for Chivas. MLS leading scorer Ante Razov was given a yellow card for dissent during a discussion of a midfield foul call with head referee Abiodun Okulaja.

Due to yellow card accumulation, Razov will miss Chivas' game Friday at Colorado.
