FROM COZY COTTAGE TO MODERN MANSION, DESIGN SHOWCASE HAS IT ALL.

Byline: Michelle J. Mills Staff Writer

There is a modern mansion made to look old, an English cottage that would look at home in the Cotswolds and a dark ranch house made light and bright.

The five homes open to visitors during the Oct. 10 American Association American Association refers to one of the following professional baseball leagues:
  • American Association (19th century), active from 1882 to 1891.
  • American Association (20th century), active from 1902 to 1962 and 1969 to 1997.
of Interior Designers tour offer ideas for homes of every size and taste.

Here's a preview.

Stratford Manor

La Canada Flintridge

Robin Dorman of Design Concepts and her husband rescued this 11,000-square-foot contemporary Tudor home that had been abandoned for four years with construction unfinished. Called Stratford Manor, this home is on a lush, four-acre parklike estate.

There are many items to note, from the color-washed wrought iron wrought iron: see iron.

One of the two forms in which iron is obtained by smelting. Wrought iron is a soft, easily worked, fibrous metal. It usually contains less than 0.1% carbon and 1–2% slag.

Perhaps the best room in the house is actually outside. An outdoor patio has become a media room with large ceiling fans, a bar, plush chairs, a dining set and a bubbling spa. Family and friends can view films or watch the game without missing a thing, as the projection screen can be seen from any spot in this unusual outdoor room.

Squirrel Cottage

Pasadena

Owner and designer Sherry Stein calls her 2,000-square-foot 1927 English cottage built by Royal Dana the Squirrel Cottage, but dogs rule the roost.

Images of Stein's two precious papillons Papillons, Op. 2, is a piano piece written in 1831 by Robert Schumann. Meaning 'butterflies,' Papillons begins with a 6 measure introduction before launching into a variety of dance-like movements. , Nancy and Patience, are found throughout the house on walls, pillows and countless accessories. , where Stein can relax on a leather wing-back love seat that comes with its own built-in sconce lighting.

When Stein moved in, there was a gang of busy squirrels living in her fruit trees. She decided to live peacefully with them and named her house appropriately. She also has many accessories with squirrel motifs, including a stained glass stained glass, in general, windows made of colored glass. To a large extent, the name is a misnomer, for staining is only one of the methods of coloring employed, and the best medieval glass made little use of it.  squirrel window at the staircase landing.
