Witnesses told the CHP that Rote may have been speeding, Myers said. ``This may be a case where seat belts saved lives,'' Myers said. ``Without seat belts, the driver of the Ford F-150 would have definitely been ejected, and without seat belts, the driver and the passengers in the Yukon may have had serious problems.''
