FREE DENTAL, MEDICAL CARE ARE OFFERED A.V. HEALTH FAIR TO BE JUNE 7, FOLLOW-UP CARE JUNE 9.

LANCASTER - Low-income, uninsured residents can receive free dental exams and free health care during two events next month at Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties. , 3041 W. Ave. K.

The dental clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7. Follow-up care will be available during the Antelope Valley Health Fair on June 9, when free medical care also will be provided.

In addition to the college, the events will be co-sponsored by Tzu-Chi Free Clinic, an international charitable organization providing free medical and dental care and assistance to the needy, and Antelope Valley Partners for Health, a community-based coalition of local health and social services organizations.

``With the high cost of medical care these days and the high numbers of uninsured in our area, the A.V. Health Fair is truly a special opportunity for people - especially adults - to have their health problems looked at and often treated without charge,'' said Jean Syer, director of Antelope Valley Partners for Health. ``Raising the level of health awareness is not only good for individuals, it raises the standard of community health for all.''

Participants can take advantage of free physicals, vision care, dermatology, podiatry podiatry (pōdī`ətrē, pə–), science concerned with disorders, diseases, and deformities of the feet, also called chiropody. Podiatrists treat such common conditions as bunions, corns and calluses, and ingrown toenails. , chiropractic care, immunizations, HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome  testing, pediatric pediatric /pe·di·at·ric/ (pe?de-at´rik) pertaining to the health of children.

The Visiting Nurse Community Services Care-A-Van mobile health clinic will perform free breast exams, by appointment, for low-income women over 40. Antelope Valley Hospital Mobile Mammography mammography, diagnostic procedure that uses low-dose X rays to detect abnormalities in the breasts. The early diagnosis of breast cancer made possible by the routine use of mammography for screening women increases a woman's treatment alternatives and improves her  will offer free mammograms for women who have received clinical breast exams.

Dozens of Tzu-Chi Free Clinic and local area doctors, dentists and health care specialists have volunteered their services to promote better health for the High Desert.

Free supervised child care and activities are available, and free clothing, shoes and personal care kits will be distributed to those who need them, along with free information and services from community service organizations.
