FRANKLIN BANK CHALLENGES CUSTOMERS TO FIGHT BACK -- BUY AMERICAN
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- "Fight Back -- Buy American" is the theme of a new campaign announced today by Franklin Bank, N.A. (NASDAQ: FSVB). The campaign offers a $100 reward to Franklin's corporate checking account customers, and their employees, who purchase a 1992 American vehicle.
Chrysler, Ford and General Motors products, made in America, are eligible. Foreign products manufactured under the auspices of the Big Three, however, are excluded. Management said the "Pro-Detroit" offer will kick off Feb. 1, 1992, and is scheduled to run until April 30, 1992.
Read Patton Dunn, Franklin president and CEO, said he was inspired by the Iacocca speech to the Detroit Economic Club on Jan. 10, 1992.
"Americans revolted 200 years ago over unfair trade, taxes and foreign exploitation," said Dunn. "We're encouraging our business customers to refuse to stand for it now."
Bud Liebler, Chrysler Corporation vice president, Communications, said he is "delighted that Franklin Bank is encouraging Detroiters to buy American.
"Incentives like this might motivate buyers to consider American cars for their next purchase," Liebler added.
To claim the award, American vehicle buyers must submit a valid copy of their Application for Title (TRII), dated between Feb. 1, 1992, and April 30, 1992, their company's Franklin business checking account title and number, and proof of employment.
Franklin limits this offer to 10 vehicles per participating company and may withdraw the offer at any time.
Franklin Bank, N.A. is the only independently owned bank in Oakland County with assets between $300 million and $10 billion. The $398 million bank is headquartered in Southfield and operates three full-service regional branches in Southfield, Birmingham and Grosse Pointe Woods.
