FRANKFURT IMPROVES FAIRGROUNDS WITH NEW TRAIN STATION.


THE 20TH FRANKFURT Music Fair will be held March 3-7. The completion of the railway station at the Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  in January 1999 will make it easier for visitors to get to this year's Fair. The Exhibition Centre will be linked directly to the S-Bahn (suburban train) network of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund public transport authority. Exhibitors and visitors staying at hotels in the area surrounding Frankfurt will now be able to ride directly from their hotel to the Fairgrounds.

The ProLight+Sound portion of the Fair, previously in two halls, will now occupy four halls, with Halls 4 and 7 joining Halls 5 and 6.

The number of exhibitors, the amount of exhibitor space, and the number of visitors have all tripled since the first Fair in 1980. The 1998 Fair had over 2,000 exhibitors, 1,416 at the Music Fair proper and another 600 at the Prolight+Sound venue, which debuted in 1995. The visitor total was 96,000.

Fair management also announced the first Congress for Audio-Visual Installation Systems (CAVIS) will be held November 22-24, 1999. CAVIS will offer international manufacturers the opportunity to present their products and problem solutions to an audience of architects, planning engineers, system installers, technicians, etc. Product groups will include audio-visual system installations, public address systems, projection/video technology, lighting, and networks and controls. Currently, CAVIS is scheduled to be held every two years.
