FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA, ATTORNEY THOMAS LEWYN WILL BE NAMED TO METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER BOARD

 SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Famed director/writer/producer Francis Ford Coppola and respected attorney Thomas M. Lewyn will be named to the board of directors of Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., effective Dec. 15, 1993, it was announced today by Frank G. Mancuso, chairman and chief executive officer.
 "Having worked with both individuals over many years, I know how valuable their advice and counsel will be to the company," Mancuso stated. "The creativity, credibility and business acumen of these two gentlemen will be of great benefit to the company."
 Coppola is one of the most respected and recognized talents in the entertainment industry. Renowned for his three Academy Award-winning "Godfather" films, "Apocalypse Now" and numerous others, Coppola began his illustrious film career as a dialogue director while a film student at the University of California at Los Angeles. He went on to direct, produce and/or write such films as "American Graffiti," "The Great Gatsby," "Patton," "The Rain People," "THX 1138," "The Conversation," "You're a Big Boy Now," "Is Paris Burning?," and "Tucker: The Man and His Dream," among others. His most recent success was "Bram Stoker's Dracula," released last year.
 Lewyn is currently Of Counsel to the law firm of Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett, where he has specialized in corporate and entertainment law since 1957. For 15 years, he also served as Secretary, General Counsel and a Director of Paramount Pictures Corp., then a subsidiary of Gulf + Western. Lewyn has represented other major motion picture companies in industry-wide and other matters. He is a graduate of Stanford University and Columbia University Law School.
