FPL CONDUCTS MAINTENANCE AND TESTING ON TURKEY POINT SIREN SYSTEM
MIAMI, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Power & Light Company will conduct maintenance and testing on the emergency siren system for the Turkey Point nuclear power plant. The testing will occur on Saturday, Aug. 19, 1992, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
During the test, the 41 pole-mounted sirens will rotate and emit a high frequency tone designed to be inaudible to humans. FPL periodically conducts maintenance and testing on the siren system to ensure operability.
FPL would also like to assure residents living near Turkey Point that there is no emergency occurring at the nuclear plant. If an actual emergency should ever occur at the plant, the sirens would sound with an audible tone for a period of at least 15 minutes.
