"Adding Protean's customer base increases our share of the loosefill market in New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. FP International will move Protean's loosefill expanding operation from Holden to Auburn. Plant Manager Wayne L. Cheries will oversee the transition at FP International's St. Mark Street facility in Auburn.

"We're adding 10,000 square feet in Auburn to house the new loosefill expansion operation," said Cheries. "Equipment installation will be completed this month, and we expect to be fully operational in January 1997."

FP International, the new trade name of Free-Flow Packaging International, Inc., is an international manufacturer of protective packaging materials and loosefill dispensing systems as well as a major polystyrene polystyrene (pŏl'ēstī`rēn), widely used plastic; it is a polymer of styrene. Polystyrene is a colorless, transparent thermoplastic that softens slightly above 100°C; (212°F;) and becomes a viscous liquid at around 185°C;  recycler.

The company received the National Recycling Coalition's 1996 Award for Outstanding Recycling Innovation in September 1996 and its second consecutive Massachusetts Packaging Challenge Silver Award for its recycled content loosefill in May 1996.
