FOX BUSTS OUT NEW `BREAK'.

Byline: - David Kronke

``Prison Break,'' the addictively paranoid action-thriller, returns tonight after a protracted pro·tract

He is portrayed by Wentworth Miller. Well, not exactly. But there are other deus ex machinas in the world, even if you'll have to watch beyond tonight and endure more conspiracies and a little bit of inevitable narrative wheel-spinning over the next couple of episodes. If you haven't watched before, tonight's episode - and a future episode - does a serviceable job of catching you up and, perhaps, even hooking you. But remember: Nothing ever, ever, comes easy for Michael.

``Prison Break'' returns at 8 tonight on Fox (Channel 11).
