 today at El Cariso Golf Course in Sylmar. Their fourth meeting of the season could decide the Foothill League championship.

Valencia, which won its first league title last season and finished 10th in the Southern Section final at Los Posas Country Club in Camarillo, opened this season ranked No. 1 by the Daily News. Their 9-0 start included a five-stroke nonleague victory over Hart, then ranked eighth.

The Indians roared back to win the first two league tournaments - both teams broke the Vista Valencia course record last week - climbing into position to clinch Clinch, river, c.300 mi (480 km) long, formed by the junction of two forks in SW Va., and flowing generally SW across E Tenn. to the Tennessee River at Kingston.  their fourth league title in seven seasons. All they need to do is finish one stroke ahead of Valencia in any of the three remaining league matches.

Valencia, which outscored Hart 226-231 in a Sept. 20 nonleague match at Valencia Country Club, finished second to the Indians in a 183-185 league opener at El Cariso and was second again last week (184-185) at Vista Valencia. Both scores bettered Saugus' course-record 187, set in 2003.

Valencia tied its season series with Hart 2-2 last week, placing second in the Magnolia Magnolia, city, United States

Heading into today's third league tournament, the teams are separated by three strokes through their first four 2005 meetings.

--Two-team race: Valencia's and Hart's depth is reflected in the league scoring averages, with Vikings and Indians in the top five positions.

Valencia senior Stevy Loy leads the league with a 31 average that has her 2-under par in Foothill play. Hart's Tessa Harp harp, stringed musical instrument of ancient origin, the strings of which are plucked with the fingers. Harps were found in paintings from the 13th cent. B.C. at Thebes. --Names in the game: Ashley Windsor, Krystal Pieracci and Linsay Rollins also have started for Hart (17-2). Andrea Ferris, Tracy White Tracy Donnel White (born April 14, 1981 in Charleston, South Carolina) is an American football player who is on the Green Bay Packers.

He attended Timberland High School in St. Stephen, South Carolina. He played linebacker and kicker on the football team.
, Jasnin Samson, Kristin Tayo and Jenny Kim have helped Valencia to a 15-2 mark.

--Looking ahead: If Valencia finishes ahead of Hart in league match No. 3 today, they will resume their Foothill title chase next Tuesday in a 1:30 p.m. match at Vista Valencia. The final league team match is scheduled Oct. 24 at Knollwood Country Club in Granada Hills.

The individual qualifying tournament for postseason play will be a two-round competition. The first round will be combined with the Oct. 24 final team match at Knollwood. Top scorers advance to a second round, Oct. 26 at De Bell.

--Strong showing: In addition to the 2-3 finish by Valencia and Hart at the Magnolia Park Optimist Club tournament - Torrance was first at 160 - the Foothill League also received a ninth-place finish from Saugus (199).

Wohlfeiler (44), Tiara Wells (50), Wynne Shatkus (52) and Ashley Gonzales (53) paced Saugus. Loy and Tayo shot 41s and Mannix and Kim 44s for Valencia. Harp and Tan led Tan Le is an Australian telecommunications entrepreneur, businesswoman and the 1998 Young Australian of the Year. Born in Vietnam, Tan migrated to Australia as refugee with her family in 1982.  Hart at 41, followed by Windsor (45) and Redmond (48).

--Villela takes title: Former Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  junior standout Angela Villela, now in her second year at four-time defending City Section champion Granada Hills, won the individual title at De Bell, shooting 1-under-par 35.
