FOUR WINNERS AWARDED $500 IN 'THE ART VAN SHARE YOUR PARADE STORY CONTEST'

DETROIT, Nov. 23 ~PRNewswire~ -- Twelve lucky Michigan residents have won the chance to march in the Michigan Thanksgiving Parade, and four of them will be awarded a $500 scholarship or savings bond for winning "The Art Van Share Your Parade Story Contest."
The Parade Company, producers of the Michigan Thanksgiving Parade, has teamed with leading corporate supporter Art Van Furniture to help save some important history about a very precious commodity in this state.
Entries were in the form of a poem or short story, 200 words or less, describing their most memorable Michigan Thanksgiving Parade experience. Three winners in four different age categories were selected, with each winner receiving a Parade prize package guaranteed to make this Thanksgiving extra special.
The first-place winners in each category are:
5-9-year olds -- Andru McVey of Detroit
10-14-year-olds -- Melinda Alford of Detroit
15-18-year-olds -- Jennifer Franklin of Oak Park
19-and-older -- Patricia Debski of St. Clair Shores
The "all new" 1992 Michigan Thanksgiving Parade will feature Martha Reeves as the grand marshal, eight new floats, two new giant inflatable balloons and the first ever Parade theme song, "It's A Parade," written by Dan Yessian and Curtiss Boone exclusively for the Michigan Thanksgiving Parade.
