Young chicken ranchers, who lost money by not being able to show their poultry this year, competed traditionally only in the portion in which they answered questions about chickens and pigeons.

David Thomson, poultry barn superintendent, was disappointed for the children but predicted things would be back to normal next year.

``Poultry will be back here next year. Most of the quarantine has been lifted for the valley,'' Thomson said. ``We usually have 400 or 500 pigeons and about 350 to 400 chickens. So we usually have a really good show.''
