FORMER DEFENSE ASSISTANT SECRETARY JOINS SAIC

 MCCLEAN, Va., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Assistant Secretary of Defense Duane Andrews will be joining Science Applications International Corp. in the Washington area, effective Feb. 1.
 Andrews, who was assistant secretary for command, control, communications and intelligence, will be a senior vice president for C4/Information Systems reporting to SAIC President Dr. Lorenz A. Kull. In this capacity, Andrews will lead SAIC's strategic planning in the area of C41 information systems.
 "Duane brings a wealth of experience to SAIC," said company Executive Vice President Robert A. Rosenberg. "His knowledge and expertise will be invaluable in these changing times. We feel very fortunate to have him join our employee-owned company."
 At the Pentagon, Andrews was principal staff assistant and adviser to the secretary of defense for command, control, communications, intelligence, counterintelligence and security countermeasures, and information management. Among his accomplishments was planning, developing and implementing the DOD Plan for Corporate Information Management and the 1991 Plan for Restructuring Defense Intelligence.
 Prior to joining the Defense Department, Andrews was a professional staff member for the U.S. House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for 12 years.
 He also served in the U.S. Air Force in intelligence activities. Andrews has a master of arts degree in management from Central Michigan University, and a bachelor of science degree in bacteriology from the University of Florida.
